BIO BRIEF

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Peter attended Loyola University. Peter produced his debut broadcast documentary, a short, titled “Being Old” for CBC’s Montreal’s Critical Path (exec. producer David Waters). The documentary short launched Peter's professional filmmaking career as Peter continued as an independent documentary filmmaker into the 1980's while contracted to CBC TV as a researcher/writer where he evolved as a field producer for CBC TV.
As an independent producer, writer and director, Peter's career spans decades in broadcast programming, entertainment, corporate messaging, TV commercials and independent documentary film. The filmmaker's work garnered recognition such as Yorkton Gold Sheaf Award (Gambit) and numerous awards including New York TV & Film Award (CBC The Score).
In 2010 the filmmaker, afflicted with the onset of severe hearing loss and debilitating tinnitus, withdrew from his calling and public life. Almost a decade later Peter returned with a 90 minute feature length documentary “E-Day Canada: When Voter Suppression Came Calling” , a cautionary tale of voter suppression during Canada's 2011 General Election. "E-Day Canada" debuted as an official entry at the 2020 Salt Spring Film Festival in British Columbia.
Peter is presently developing an independent documentary investigating the threat to Canada's sovereignty by right wing misinformation and bolstered by the Trump administration which works to undermine Canadian unity and discerns the White House threat through the eyes of the average Canadian.
Peter often works under the pseudonym F.W. Samms.
